Albert Moriarty
Thursday was the funeral for Bert Moriarty, who would have been 99 at the end of this month. Bert lived on Bowen Mountain and was a local character... an artist, a storyteller who spoke his mind, and an engineer who could make things!
Bert would occasionally drop in to the Piggery when I used to be in there regularly and I painted this portrait of him in early 2012.

Londonderry Trees
I went out the other week and did a little plein air sketch of some trees, and decided to make them into a large painting... still to be finished

Portrait at Richmond Art Supplies
Saturday was our regular monthly portrait group at Richmond Art Supplies and Melissa was again the model for these two 16 x 12 oil sketches, a 60 (or 80) minute and a 30 minute
Live at the Piggery
We are now intending to use 'The Piggery' more like we used to do, which was to have open days with artists at work and live demonstrations, and now we are adding more activities for participation such as portrait workshops and musical jam sessions.
These will be on the first Saturday of the month, and we had our first 'dry run' on the 2nd November... it didn't quite work out with getting a portrait sitter, but a couple of the participating artists took turns for some 20 minute poses.
and the musical jam session got off to a small but confidence building start... and will be something to look forward to!
