Painting the Mayor
The 2012 Archibald Prize finalists exhibition is currently being displayed at the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery and a number of local artists were invited to paint a portrait of Hawkesbury Mayor Kim Ford. He sat for the portrait in the gallery on Tuesday 12th February... not in his mayoral chains and robes!
... and the portraits will be on display at the Gallery after the 23rd.
here are a few action photos... and how my painting finished up.

Portrait workshop with Evert Ploeg
highly regarded portrait artist Evert Ploeg decided at short notice to put on a portrait painting workshop at his studio on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th November. I noticed it on his fb page and decided to go along, it was 2 days of painting with enjoyable and useful discussions with 7 artists including our uncomplaining model, artist Greg Somers.
this was my effort ... with a little tweaking of the background and shirt
